the fisher family | melton hill park
I had the pleasure of meeting the Fisher family at Melton Hill Park last October. We headed off to a quiet corner of the park and our little hike was rewarded. Their sweet girl quickly had us all laughing and the session just got better from there. The light was amazing and they were all having fun, which is my number one goal for sessions.
I always try to get photos of just mom and dad. Typically, once kids come along, all the focus is on them. It’s nice to have a reminder for both the parents and the kids, that their relationship is where it all began.
It also gives the kids a break too. They can run around close by or I’ll have them help me get their parents to “cooperate” and smile. They tend to end up giggling and giving me some good shots without even realizing it.
I like to let kids do their own thing as much as possible. I’ve found that this is helpful in a few different ways. It keeps my parents and kids happier because their not forced to sit and smile pretty. That in turn gives us beautiful portraits of the kids that show their true personalities. And kids learn that photos can be fun and not torture (which is how most kids view it) and their next photo session is that much easier.
